Dailymotion video metadata viewer
Paste the link of a public Dailymotion video and we show you what Dailymotion publishes about it: title, description, the thumbnail at the largest size it returns and the URL of the current player, with iframe code ready to paste. We read it through oEmbed, the open channel Dailymotion offers so other sites can show its videos: no Dailymotion key or account needed.
No account, no card · YouTube · Vimeo · Dailymotion · WordPress · OpenGraph · nearly 70 players
What it shows
- Title and description, as the uploader entered them.
- The largest thumbnail Dailymotion returns through oEmbed, usually 720 pixels tall, with a link to open it.
- The URL of Dailymotion's current player (geo.dailymotion.com) and iframe code that adapts to your page width.
- Paste several links and get one entry per video.
What it does not include
Dailymotion does not publish duration, upload date, tags or view counts through oEmbed, so the entry comes without them. We do not fill them in with rough numbers: an empty field is more honest.
What it is for
- Add a Dailymotion video to your site with title, description and cover image without copying by hand.
- Get embed code for the new player, which is the one that displays properly inside another page.
- See a video's thumbnail up close to use as a reference.
- Collect the data of several videos, one link per line, and download it as JSON with a free account.
How to use it
- Copy the video link: dailymotion.com/video/x… or the short dai.ly/x….
- Paste it in the box above and press Extract.
- Copy the iframe or the player URL, open the thumbnail or download the entry.
If the video does not show up or will not play
Every Dailymotion video has its own settings: it can be private, it can disallow embedding on other sites and it can be blocked in some countries. If it is private or does not exist, Dailymotion does not answer and the entry tells you so. If it is blocked in a country, you still get the entry, but the player will not show from that country.
The code we give you uses the geo.dailymotion.com player. The old one, dailymotion.com/embed/video/…, now redirects to the new one and inside an iframe it often stays blank: if videos you embedded with that code stopped showing, swap them for the new one.
<iframe src="https://geo.dailymotion.com/player.html?video=x5myp5" title="Big Buck Bunny" style="width:100%;aspect-ratio:16/9;border:0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen loading="lazy"></iframe>Lots of Dailymotion videos?
Paste several links, one per line, and you get every entry at once. With the Basic plan you download them as CSV, and with Premium they go straight to your WordPress. Dailymotion playlists and channels are not walked automatically yet.
See plansFrequently asked questions
- Why is there no duration or date?
- Because Dailymotion's public channel, oEmbed, does not include them. If you need the exact date, duration and tags, those come through in full for YouTube videos.
- Do I need a Dailymotion API key?
- No. oEmbed is open and needs no Dailymotion sign-up. On Embedfinder you can try without an account (5 videos per day) or open a free account for 10 per day and 300 per month.
- How do I paste it into WordPress?
- In the block editor, add a “Custom HTML” block and paste the iframe. If it disappears when you save, publish it with an administrator or editor user: WordPress strips iframes from other roles.
- Does it keep a copy of the video?
- No. We read the public data and build the code for the official player. The video stays on Dailymotion and plays from there; if its owner deletes it, it stops showing on your site too.
