Embedfinder

Embedfinder vs WP Automatic

WP Automatic is the best-known plugin for publishing content from other sources on WordPress: it installs on your site, you pay once, and it posts on its own from YouTube, Vimeo, feeds, web pages and stores. Embedfinder covers one part of that, video entries, in a different way: the reading runs on our servers, it ranks each page's players, and your WordPress only receives drafts. Here are the differences, without hiding what WP Automatic does better.

What WP Automatic is

A WordPress plugin by ValvePress (now called WP Auto Pro on its own site) that creates posts on its own from campaigns: YouTube and Vimeo videos, RSS feeds, single pages or whole sites following pagination, Amazon or eBay products and social networks. Each post can be saved as a draft or published.

When WP Automatic is the better fit

  • You would rather pay once than have a subscription.
  • You want to publish from many sources besides video: feeds, stores or social networks.
  • You want it to post on its own, through campaigns, and you are comfortable setting them up.

When Embedfinder is the better fit

  • Your site is about video and you care that each entry brings the best player first.
  • You do not want to add a plugin to your WordPress that reads other sites from your server.
  • Besides WordPress, you want a CSV or an API with the same data.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Embedfinder and WP Automatic together?
Yes, they do not get in each other's way. Embedfinder creates posts through its own connector plugin; keep WP Automatic for feeds or stores and use Embedfinder for video entries.
Does Embedfinder post on its own, like WP Automatic?
No: you paste the link of a page or a listing and the entries arrive as drafts. That is on purpose, so you review each one before publishing it.
Is the Embedfinder plugin paid?
The connector plugin is free and comes with 20 test sends on any plan. To use it without a cap you need the Premium plan.
